Venaseal Glue

VENASEAL GLUE - The Latest in Varicose Vein Treatment

Venaseal Glue is a safe and very effective treatment for varicose veins. It has significant advantages over heat treatments and surgery.  These include minimal discomfort during and after the procedure, not needing multiple needles, not requiring a hospital stay or anaesthetic, not requiring any time off work, no risk of nerve damage as can occur in heat treatments, and a very rapid return to exercise and normal activities.

The video above details how the procedure is performed, and the video below provides an insight into a patient's experience of the Venaseal Glue procedure.

ENDOVENOUS TECHNIQUES WITH HEAT

(Radiofrequency Ablation and Endovenous laser)

Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and Endovenous Laser Therapy (EVLT) are minimally invasive.  They are able to be performed as a day procedure. Using a probe inserted into the vein, the local heating aims to damage to the vein wall. In order to protect surrounding tissues from heat damage, local anaesthetic mixed with saline is also injected around the vein (tumescent anaesthesia).

SCLEROTHERAPY

Varicose Vein Removal through Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy (also known as microsclerotherapy and foam sclerotherapy or ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy) involves the use of very fine needles. A chemical irritant is injected into the veins to cause them to become inflamed and fade.

In general it is effective for spider veins and certain applications for varicose veins.

SURGERY

Varicose Veins Treatment through Surgery

Surgery had been the mainstay of treatment of varicose veins for more than a century prior to the introduction of endovenous techniques.

Despite the minimally invasive nature of the newer techniques, there are still some circumstances where it may be more appropriate for surgical intervention.

The advantage of seeing Mr Ling is that he has expertise in all the treatment methods for veins and so can advise you - without the bias seen in many vein clinics that do not have the ability or expertise to offer every option - about the most appropriate treatment for each person.

Venography

VENOGRAPHY AND INTERVENTIONAL COIL EMBOLISATION FOR PELVIC CONGESTION SYNDROME

Pelvic Congestion Syndrome

Pelvic congestion syndrome is due to dilated and swollen pelvic veins. It can result in a heavy or dull ache in the pelvis, and can also cause vulval varicose veins and contribute to varicose veins in the legs.

Mr Ling has the expertise in minimally-invasive interventional techniques to treat these problems using x-ray imaging (venograms) to intentionally block/occlude the problematic veins (coil embolisation).
